About Momo Tours Ishigaki

Founded in 2025 by Daniel and Chris, Momo Tours Ishigaki is the realization of a long-standing dream. Though both of us grew up behind the Iron Curtain in East Berlin, Germany, our paths crossed not at home, but here—on the stunning island of Ishigaki—five years ago. Since then, the idea of creating a tour company together quietly grew, shaped by countless shared adventures.

The name Momo comes from the Japanese word for peach, but it also holds personal meaning. It's named after Momo-chan, Daniel’s bright orange mini truck—a familiar sight on Ishigaki’s roads and something of a local character. Her charm and spirit now drive the identity of our company.

At Momo Tours, our goal is to share the beauty and spirit of Ishigaki with visitors from around the world. With local insight, personal stories, and a focus on memorable experiences, we hope to make your time here truly special.


DANIEL

Daniel is the heart and soul of Momo Tours Ishigaki. Since moving to the island five years ago, he has gained extensive  experience as both a kayak and snorkeling guide. His deep love for nature is reflected not only in his tours but also in his dedication to preserving Ishigaki’s environment—especially its beaches.

Outside of working, you’ll often find Daniel cleaning the village beach, accompanied by his four dogs and Momo-chan, his bright orange mini truck. He takes part in nearly every beach cleanup on the island, big or small. And don’t be surprised if he encourages you to pick up a piece of trash before you go—his commitment is genuine and inspiring.

Offering tours in both English and German, Daniel brings optimism, friendliness, and a deep respect for Ishigaki to every tour, making your visit a truly memorable one.

ChRIS

If Daniel is the heart of Momo Tours Ishigaki, then Chris can be considered the brain behind it.

His journey to Japan started nearly 20 years ago, driven by a deep passion for karate—a discipline he continues to practice to this day. After years of living in the bustling cities of Berlin and Osaka, Chris felt the need for a change—a slower pace, a closer connection to nature, and a better environment for his child to grow up in. Drawn by the stunning emerald waters and the  lifestyle of Okinawa, he eventually made Ishigaki his home.

Fluent in Japanese, English, and German, Chris brings not only language skills but also a rich understanding of Japanese history, culture, and everyday life. He’s always happy to share his insights, offering a level of depth and authenticity you rarely get on a standard tour. With Chris you’re in for an experience that’s personal, thoughtful, and truly memorable.
