Late September on Ishigaki – A Great Time for Kayaking
The intense summer heat on Ishigaki Island is slowly easing, and we are entering one of our favorite times of the year for kayaking.
September is still warm, the ocean is still inviting, and there is plenty of sunshine. But compared to the hottest weeks of summer, being outside and spending time on the water is becoming more comfortable again. For us, this is when kayaking on Ishigaki really starts to become even more enjoyable.
Our Fukido River Kayak Tour takes you through the mangroves of Fukido River and towards the coast. It is a relaxed way to experience a different side of Ishigaki, away from the busier beaches and without having to rush from one place to another.
During the peak of summer, the combination of strong sun, high temperatures and humidity can make outdoor activities quite demanding. Now that September is coming to an end, the conditions are often much more pleasant for simply sitting back, paddling through the mangroves and enjoying the surroundings.
One of the things we particularly enjoy about this time of year is the atmosphere on the river. The tours feel relaxed, and there is more time to enjoy the scenery instead of worrying about the heat. Depending on the tide and the time of the tour, the mangroves and the coastline can also look quite different from one day to the next.
We have welcomed many guests from all over the world over the past few months, and it has been great to see how much people enjoy discovering Ishigaki from the water. Whether it is their first time in a kayak or they already have experience paddling, most guests quickly settle into the relaxed rhythm of the river.
And although the main summer season is coming to an end, Ishigaki is still very much a warm-weather destination. The sea remains warm, the island stays green, and there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.
For us at Momo Tours Ishigaki, the coming months are a great time to be out on the water. Less of the intense midsummer heat, beautiful tropical scenery, and plenty of time to simply enjoy the experience.
If you are visiting Ishigaki in late September, October or the following months, consider joining us for a kayak tour on Fukido River and experiencing the island from a different perspective.
We look forward to seeing you on the water!
